A decision on whether the scheme will be eligible to move forward and compete for part of a £600m pot of Central Government funding that has been allocated to build new roads will now be made in January 2011.
Anne Marie said:
“We have all worked hard together to ensure this long awaited scheme finally sees the light of day.
“Following the Ministerial Statement in the House today, I have secured a further meeting for Adrian Sanders, Sarah Wollaston and myself to meet with Norman Baker MP, together with Devon County Council, to look at producing the updated appraisal which is needed to make it clear beyond doubt that this scheme is not only urgently needed but offers value for money.
“A further review will now take place in January next year to determine whether this scheme can be upgraded to fall within the development pool”
