Anne Marie worked alongside the British Heart Foundation to circulate a letter to Members of Parliament calling on the Secretary of State for Education to introduce this measure. It was sent yesterday (April 2nd) and over 40 MPs signed it.
Anne Marie said;
“I am absolutely delighted to offer my full support to this wonderful campaign and I am pleased so many of my parliamentary colleagues have co-signed the letter. This is a cross-party matter rooted in common sense. It is important as many people as possible know how to perform emergency life saving skills and I think it would be fantastic to have this taught in schools in order so our youngest generation are all life savers.
This is a campaign the British Heart Foundation has been running for some time and it has attracted the support of thousands of members of the public. An estimated 86% of teachers, 78% of children and 70% of parents would like to see skills, such as CPR, taught in schools. I will continue to do everything I can to support the British Heart Foundation with their efforts in this area and I look forward to receiving a response from the Secretary of State.
