This morning (16th March) Anne Marie visited the Riverview Care Home in Teignmouth. Riverview is an adult social care home for people with autism/ASD and challenging behaviour. Under the leadership of manager Patrick Van Rensburg and Daniel Bennett, the home has been rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission in a recent inspection. The 9 residents live in self-contained flats and bedrooms with one to one care aiming to get the residents back into supported living in the community.
Anne Marie was delighted to be given a tour of the home including a look at the bedrooms, flats and sensory lounge. Anne Marie spoke about how the awareness for social care in old age has increased but not so much for the people that Riverview care for. In her role as a member of the Public Accounts Committee Anne Marie told the team at Riverview that she would bring this to the attention of the committee.
Anne Marie looks forward to visiting Riverview in the future to congratulate them on their second ‘Outstanding’ award!
