Well it has been a rollercoaster of a week! After a great but exhausting campaign, the calls and letters started coming in - congratulations and new case work in equal measure. Over the weekend through Monday morning I was able to lobby Teignbridge successfully to defer a planning decision on behalf of concerned constituents and tackle the County Council on an incorrect decision on school transport.
I was summoned at short notice to Westminster for party meetings on Monday evening to discuss our future-were we going to be in government or not? On Tuesday morning our new MP induction programme started -interspersed with more party meetings - through until Wednesday evening. What an amazing result on Wednesday night! A new coalition government with David Cameron our new Prime Minister!
Today I am on my way back to Newton Abbot looking forward to meetings today and tomorrow with a number of you and of course my surgeries. I have asked the local papers if they would like a regular column and the Mid Devon Advertiser are carrying the first this week. I am waiting to hear from the Herald Express.
I have been speaking quite regularly with the MDA, Western Morning News, Herald Express and no doubt they will be filling the gaps for you with regard to what I have been doing and hope to achieve for Teignbridge.
I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible as soon as possible.
