The Environment Agency, along with Teignbridge District Council (TDC) will be holding a public exhibition in June to provide some more information on the Dawlish Warren Beach Management Scheme.
The exhibitions will run from 2pm - 8pm on the 24 and 25 June at the Langstone Cliff Hotel, Dawlish Warren.
A range of information will be available about the scheme:
• How the beach at Dawlish Warren works - the natural processes that shape the beach and coastline and provide protection to the estuary.
• How the winter storms affected the beach and defences - the damage and the recent repair works.
• The new flood defence planned near the Visitor Centre at Dawlish Warren that will help protect Dawlish Warren village and amenities.
• Repairing / replacing groynes on the beaches at Dawlish Warren.
• Adding extra sand to the beach at Dawlish Warren. This is known as 'beach recharge' and may use sand from Pole Sands.
• The removal of some of the gabions at Dawlish Warren.
• When the work will happen - the timings, the permissions needed, how the works are funded.
Both the Environment Agency and TDC would like to know your thoughts about the scheme. They will be there to answer questions you may have and to hear what you think about the proposed works. They would like to know:
• What you think about the scheme
• If you have any information about the beaches, the environment or the activities that could be affected by the proposals
• What you think they can practically do to minimise any disruption - to people, businesses and the environment.
A representative from Anne Marie’s office will also be in attendance.
