I was delighted to meet with Chris Grayling on Tuesday to discuss the Dawlish line and make sure it is still on his agenda post-election. He reassured me that he is still committed to delivering for the South West and that he urgently wants to address the Teignmouth Cliffs. I look forward to seeing some concrete commitments later in the year. It is a priority for him.
I also pushed the Secretary of State on access to our railway stations specifically to provide funding for disability access at Teignmouth station. There is no use having an improved line if it is inaccessible to those that need to use it. He confirmed a fund would be made available to which bids could be made to improve disabled access on our railway.
