On Thursday Secretary of State for Transport Chris Grayling visited the South West to reiterate the Government’s commitment to funding the Peninsula Rail. He was shown the repair work that was carried out in 2014 along with the Teignmouth Cliffs that are in urgent need of repair and currently the subject of the Network Rail Resilience Report due to be released later next month.
He agreed that the work was needed and reiterated the point that “to do nothing is not an option”. Fellow South West MPs and I will hold the Government to make good on its promise to do all it takes to ensure long term resilience of the line.
