Protecting the Dawlish Railway

Everyone knows about the Dawlish railway storm damage last year and what a brilliant job the “orange army” did to get the trains running again. Anne Marie demanded that the Prime Minister deliver immediate emergency repairs and with the help of both the Transport Secretary, Patrick McLoughlin, and Network Rail, the railway was back in operation ahead of schedule. Well over £30 million has been spent on repairs and improvements so far but Anne Marie is fighting for still more money needed for work further along the line. In the longer term, the possibility of a breakwater out to sea is being considered. Anne Marie is determined to ensure that the line is “future-proofed”.
