In January I promised to fight a clean campaign and, as a Prospective MP to be open and transparent. With this in mind, Newton Abbot Conservatives are opening up their most recently agreed and audited accounts. They reveal that the vast majority of donations towards my campaign have come from local people and fundraising events. A small proportion (5.69 %) has come from a central party fund.
This goes some way to redressing the balance of the £10,400 of taxpayers’ money available to Liberal Democrat MPs to spend each year on their campaign material through the Communications Allowance - which a Conservative Government has pledged to scrap.
