About Anne Marie Morris MP

Anne Marie with DarcyAnne Marie has Devon roots going back over 200 years and now lives with her family in Newton Abbot, at the heart of the Constituency. She has been a vigorous campaigner on community issues - supporting local post offices against closure, fighting for local residents facing cuts in hospital services, championing affordable housing and fighting for local businesses. She represents Newton Abbot and its neighbouring villages on the Senior Council for Devon.

Anne Marie is passionate about education and is a school governor at Rydon School in Kingsteignton and at Newton Abbot College. She would like to see teachers freed from bureaucracy to teach and parents supported through tax and other incentives to give their children the start in life they need. She has pioneered new approaches to vocational training in her professional life and is committed to life long learning. While her step-children are now grown up in theory - in practice children always need a helping hand and hers are no exception!

Anne Marie is committed to bringing regeneration to Newton Abbot which has lost out on most of the major European and national funding initiatives. As a local business woman herself, now running a marketing and executive coaching consultancy, she knows just how hard it is to make ends meet. She has started a local business forum to champion change, is member of the Devon and Cornwall Board of the Institute of Directors, which represents and lobbies on behalf of local businesses, and is also an active member of the Federation of Small Businesses.

Anne Marie has a regular and varied case load of constituents' problems and is always very happy to get stuck in to do what she can to help. While a number of issues she deals with relate to health and social care, an increasing number are financially related. Anne Marie's background as a lawyer and former county councillor (with responsibility for health matters) has come in very useful when it comes to dealing with bureaucracy and red tape! If you have any local issues which you would like Anne Marie's help with do send an e mail to annemarie@annemariemorris.co.uk.
